Imphal, June 11 2009: The United People's Forum has strongly condemned the recent spate of killing non-local labourers by unidentified gunmen.

In a statement, the outfit said that the non-locals are all Indians and killing labourers, rickshaw pullers, thela pullers and coolies will not bring any political solution and added that it demonstrates the immaturity of the killers.

If the killers are genuine revolutionaries then they should stop targeting daily wage earners, it said.

Attacking and killing non-Manipuris in the State can have an adverse reaction, said UPF and added that if this continues then students and workers from Manipur who are outside the State may also be attacked.

What benefits will it bring it questioned.

Terming the killings as illegal and a matter of grave concern, UPF said that the non-Manipuris have their right to live in Manipur as it is guaranteed in the Constitution of the country.

The outfit also appealed to the concerned to stop the killings and instead help restore peace.
