Imphal, June 10: Conveying pain and anguish at the unfortunate and senseless killings at Moreh yesterday, Governor Dr SS Sidhu has appealed to all the citizens of Manipur not to believe rumours but to maintain peace and harmony in the State.

A press release issued by the Raj Bhawan informed that the State Government has taken up all necessary measures to defuse the situation in order to restore peace and normalcy at the border town.

Chief Minister O Ibobi has also appealed to the people of the State and Moreh in particular to uphold the tradition of unity and brotherhood and not get swayed by emotions and rumours.

He also assured that precautionary steps are being taken up to maintain law and order.

In a similar vein, MPCC president Gaikhangam has appealed to all the people to promote peaceful co-existence.

Condoling the death of 11 persons in the incident, the MPCC chief also sought cooperation in restoring peace at Moreh.
