Imphal, May 30 2009: An IRB personnel arrested by the police from Kwakeithel in connection with the professor Islamuddin murder case yesterday will be produced before the duty magistrate, a source said today.

The personnel of the 3rd IRB who is currently in the police custody identified as Kangjam Dimajit (30) of Haobam Marak Kangjam Leikai will be produced before the duty magistrate with a police prayer for 15 days remand.

He is to be produced before the duty magistrate as tomorrow is Sunday and CJM court will remain close for the day.

Source further said that as the shooting to kill the professor took place in the broad day light, police during the course of investigation selected some persons for prosecution witness and called up them.

Among them, it include some persons who know well the IRB man Dimajit as he was among the security personnel doing duty at the MU main gate and one of the assailant has similar face with him and based on the intelligence inputs, police started searching for him.

Police intimated the CO of the concern IRB with regard to the matter but no reply could get.

Besides, the IRB man was found absent from his duty since three day ahead of the murder of the professor that is from May 22 .

He did not apply for leave.

Feeling suspicion on him from certain angle, police started looking for him and conducted search for him even at his home.

But he was not found at home.

Police came to know that he left home on May 27, a day after the killing incident of professor, Md Islamuddin and rounded up from Kwakeithel area after three days of search.

Police took at least three day to cross check whether he could be involved in the case the source said that police now established some important clue behind the murder of the professor.

During the course of investigation and interrogation to the IRB man, police now came to know that one of the Kinetic Honda used by the assailants in escaping after committing the crime mortgaging by one of the assailants on the next day.

Counting the IRB man, police has so far taken into custody 14 persons in connection with professor Md Islamuddin murder case.

Some of them are likely to detain under NSA while remaining alleged accused are likely to produced in the court to give remand to judicial custody as under trial prisoners.
