Two lynched at CCpur

Lamka, November 28: Two persons including a rickshaw puller were hacked to death at Kashmir Veng in Phailian village last night.

It was about 9.30 pm, according to Lamminthang of D Phailian, when he was informed by Hatneilam that a badly bruised relative of his identified as Mangchungnung, 25 was left unattended in front of her residence at D Phailian Kashmir Veng.

He along with the parents of Mangchungnung who were his neighbour then immediately rushed to the spot and recovered him in an extremely bruised state.

After attending to him for a while at home and on sensing the gravity of his injuries he was rushed to District Hospital here but succumbed due to internal bleeding at 11.45pm, twenty minutes after his arrival.

At about 8 am today, local residents spotted another badly bruised youth in a lifeless state about a quarter of a mile from where Mangchungnung was recovered last night.

The local police through his I-Card established his identity as Paukhanmung, 25 of Bungmual but staying at Lamphelpat Langol.

A rickshaw puller by profession, with licence No.5513, Paukhanmung, according to his father, set-off from Imphal to visit their relatives here at about 3 pm yesterday.

He was suspected to have been intercepted by the killers enroute to his relatives house in Bungmual.

Though no formal understanding has been reached as yet, both the victims' family have disclosed that feelers have been deputed to them by KNF (S) for negotiation in accordance with the traditional laws of the tribals.

Both the corpses have been handed over to respective family members after post mortem at Churachandpur district hospital today.

Terming last night's incident as barbarous, the Zomi Students' Federation has appealed to all sections of the society to condemn and help avoid recurrence of such unwanted incident in future.
