Imphal, July 28: A suspected KCP cadre was shot dead by Thoubal police commandos in a reported encounter at Yairipok Kekru along the road from Yairipok to Gwarok under Yairipok police station at about 7.30 today evening.

On the other hand, a police Constable reportedly abducted by one UG group was rescued by Thoubal police commandos tonight.

According to information received from Thoubal District Police, the encounter ensued when a team of Thoubal police commandos acting on specific reports about presence of KCP cadres along the road from Yairipok to Gwarok moved into the area.

One 9 mm pistol, a magazine and three live rounds were recovered from the slain cadre, informed a police source adding that the deceased might be a cadre of the proscribed KCP.

The corpse of the slain cadre which bore multiple fatal bullet marks has been picked up Yairipok police.

However, according to local people, the deceased was pulled up by Thoubal police commandos from Yairipok Khoirom along with a black coloured Honda Activa.

The deceased might be someone belonging to Yairipok Khoirom but staying at Yairipok Bishnunaha, hinted the local people.

On the other hand, a Constable of Senapati District Police abducted by an UG group was rescued by Thoubal police commandos from Phunal Maring hills under Kakching police station at about 7.30 pm.

The Constable (no 014012) identified as Maibam Gunamani of Salungpham was abducted last night by a UG group, informed a police source.
