Imphal, March 31: The suspected UG cadre shot dead by Thoubal police commandos on March 29 at Charangpat under Thoubal police station has been identified as Khongbantabam Romenkumar (27) s/o Lekhen of Uripok Khwai Brahmapur.

Family members maintained that they were unaware of Romenkumar joining any UG group.

In connection with drug abuse, Romenkumar was in jail for about three years.

He was released from jail only in February this year.

The corpse has been handed over to family members after post mortem at Lilong PHC today.
