Kohima, July 14: Two hardcore cadres, each of the rival factions of NSCN were shot dead while an extortionist was injured in a factional related incident at separate places within Kohima on Monday.

Official sources revealed that an NSCN-IM under secretary finance, Sahrani alias James alias Whitson was kidnapped along with his nephew by three suspected armed cadres of rival faction from SKV Petrol Pump area.

The armed cadres shot dead Sahrani at Lakie road, Lower Bypass, Jotsoma area and then set free the victim's nephew at BOC area, sources said.

The victim had three bullet marks, one each on the forehead, chest and armpit.

On getting information about the kidnap, police launched intensive search operation and frisking of vehicle but to not avail.

Police recovered three empty cases and a live round of 9mm pistol from the spot.

The second incident took place Dimapur, wherein one NSCN-U cadre, serving as 'RO', Hoto Yeptho of Akupa village, Aghunato sub-division, Zunheboto district was abducted from Golaghat area and shot dead near Dimapur ISBT area by suspected cadres of rival faction on Monday.

In another incident, an unidentified extortionist was severely injured by some person at Super Market area while extorting money from shops in the area today.

Sources revealed that the extortionist was beaten up by some armed miscreants and left him near the vegetable vendor area.

However, the victim managed to go away from some time with blood dripping from his injured head.
