Imphal, June 04 2010: With Manipur not letting him visit his ancestral village in the State, NSCN-IM leader T Muivah today left the border village of Viswema after camping there for nearly a month and embarked on a "peace mission" in Nagaland to consolidate the Naga peace process.

Under heavy security cover provided by the State police, Muivah, accompanied by senior functionaries and cadre of the group, was escorted by members of Naga civil society on the 70 km route from Viswema to Pfutsero, the highest altitudinal town in Nagaland, Phek district police officials said.

On his arrival in Pfutsero, Muivah and his entourage were accorded a warm welcome by the people led by Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) and other community bodies, NSCN-IM sources said.

Muivah, however, put up at a private residence on reaching Pfutsero and not at the church compound as decided earlier.

He and his entourage were welcomed by the Chkhesang Public Organisation at the town hall.

The Chkhesang region of NSCN-K and Naga National Council, however, opposed Muivah's visit to Phek district.

They said he was instrumental in liquidation of Chkhesang leaders in the past.
