Imphal, May 25 2010: The Tangkhul Naga Frontal Organisation (Against ADC Election 2010) has called for a 72-hour total bandh in Ukhrul district from the midnight of May 31 to oppose the ADC election.

The Tangkhul Naga Frontal Organisation (Against ADC Election 2010) at its meeting with the Council of Tangkhul Headmen, Chairmen and Hanga (Village Council) held today at TNL Hall, Ukhrul has reaffirmed the decision of the United Naga Council and the Naga people in rejecting the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District (3rd Amendment) Act 2008 and the ADC Election 2010 .

Convener, Solomon Ningshen, who is the president of TNL stated in a press release that the meeting unanimously concluded with a firm decision to oppose the election by the State Government by calling for a 72-hour total Ukhrul District bandh with effect from the midnight of May 31 .

The meeting took a serious note on the State Government's negligence of the aspiration and voice of the hill people.

The Tangkhul Frontal Organisations appealed to all voters concerned and the citizens to adhere to the UNC's decision and abstain from casting votes, and participation in the election.

Any untoward incident arising due to non compliance of the resolution would be the sole responsibility of the individuals concerned, the press release warned.

Headmen and chairmen of about 250 Tangkhul villages, along with their Hanga (Village Councils) attended the meeting.

The meeting reaffirmed the decision of the UNC and took a solemn oath to oppose the ADC election.

More than a thousand people from all walks of life attended the meeting and expressed support to the UNC declaration and decision.
