Trinamool demands inclusion of states in GoI-NSCN(IM) talks

Imphal, May 18 2010: Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress today demanded that representatives of the north eastern states should be included in the peace talk between Government of India and NSCN (IM).

Chairman of the party, RK Dorendro speaking to reporters today demanded inclusion of representatives of the state governments of the north eastern region in the GoI-NSCN (IM) talks citing that the demand put down by the rebel outfit becomes an issue in the region.

An end point to the talk could not be brought about with a amicable solution unless the representatives of the states are also part of the talk stressing the need of bringing a solution which would not hurt any of the states in the region.

He also said that due to threats posed by some pressure groups, some candidates were forced to withdraw their candidatures.

For the party also out of 30 candidates listed for fielding, owing to the pressure only 16 candidates able to file nomination papers.

Out of the 16 filed nominations, 10 more were forced to withdraw their nomination papers.

In this situation, the election of the ADC is holding only for the name sake, Dorendro lamented.

He also demanded that economic blockade on the highways should be immediately withdraw.

Government should also try its best to ensure availability of the essential items to the people at the earliest.

The intention of rebel leader Th Muivah to create disharmony among the people of the state is not a true one.

He is trying to suffer the people of the state.

The incident of Mao gate on May 6 last is condemned by the party.

Centre should not indulge in double standard policy.

The burning issue in the state should not be leave to the state government only, he observed.
