Media arts curator L. Somi Roy (seated, second from left) hosted a dinner of Manipuri-American cuisine on Friday, April 23 2010 in New York City. It took place at the lovely loft residence of Zette Emmons (standing, right) of the Newark Museum.

The dinner menu consisted of yendem kangsoi soup; a salad of awathabi asangba (green papaya) and thambou (lotus root) singju; grilled salmon steaks; alu kangmet mashed potato; and California Texmati rice; and was designed and prepared by Lin Laishram, model and actor (standing, center).

The dinner was for artists and arts curators working on Manipur projects. Guests included, clockwise from left, Nandinee Phookan, architect of the proposed baseball park in Manipur; L. Somi Roy; Nan Melville, dance photographer and filmmaker; Lin Laishram; Zette Emmons; guitarist Paul Jared Newman; and with their backs to the camera, Deirdre Towers, Director of Dance on Camera Festival; and Luis Rivera, architect.
