UBFC reach Winners' Cup semifinals

Imphal, December 29 2021: UBFC (Ukhrul) confirmed their place in the semifinals of the Winners' Cup after beating MCK (Bishnupur) 3-1 in their quarterfinal second leg at Turf Ground, Lamlong, on Wednesday.

Earlier in their first leg encounter, the Ukhrul squad registered an identical margin win (3-l) against MCK.

The Wednesday's match saw UBFC shrug off an early deficit to outscore MCK 3-1 on their way to the last four.

It was S Obedhia who put MCK ahead just five minutes into the game.

Goals eluded UBFC for the major part of the first-half contest until Yr Ningrumshang (45+2) drew level for his side seconds before the halftime whistle.

After the restart, UBFC were in control of the game as P Sorormi Thingshang dazzled with a quick double that eventually gave the Ukhrul side the turnaround that sent them straight semifinal round.

Sorormi put his team 2-1 ahead in the 48th minute and he went on to make it 3-1 in a minute span as UBFC fended off MCK to run out dominant winners.
