Ccpur, Ukl, Kamjong romp in State Games football

Imphal, August 26 2022:
Churachandpur, Ukhrul and Kamjong enjoyed easy wins as Senapati beat Bishnupur 2-1 on the first day of the men's football tournament in the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games 2022 at Ar-tifical Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, on Friday.
Churachandpur kick-started the tournament with a 5-1 hammering of Chandel as Seiminthang scored twice for the winning side.
Seiminthang set the tone for the rout with a 27th-min-' ute opener and Manglienboy doubled their lead in the 35th minute before Sk Bunghong reduced the arrears for Chandel in the 38th minute.
After conceding, Churachandpur bounced back in a matter of one minute with S Kamthianjohn on target to make it 3-1 .
Then Seiminthang found his second goal in the 62nd minute to further stretch their lead before Letminlian rounded off the scoring in the 72nd minute for the eventual 5-1 result.
Ukhrul, meanwhile, romped past Jiribam 10-0 in the day's second match.
Lungsing and Rungsing both shone for their side with a treble each.
Ukhrul needed just five minutes for Lungsing to open the scoring as Rungsing made it 2-0 in the 18th minute before Lungsing struck twice (27', 40') to complete his hat-trick.
After their four-goal barrage in the first half, Ukhrul rained goals on their opponents in the second period.
Rungsing opened the second-half blitzkrieg with a 49th-minute strike (his second goal) as Shomi Rongui (64') and Ragui Shimrah (66') continued Ukhrul's goal rush before Rungsing completed his treble in the 71st minute.
Then Yami Conguah found their ninth goal in the 76th minute and Rk Rezat closed out the game with a 77th-minute goal.
M Rakheveiche netted a brace to help Senapati defeat Bishnupur 2-1 in the third match.
M Rakhevekhe put Senapati ahead early in the 3rd minute.
Bishnupur drew level in the 50th minute through S Subash before M Rakheveiche slotted home the decider in the 78th minute.
Kamjong wrapped up the day's fixtures with a 3-0 drubbing of Pherzawl as Mathanmi starred in their victory.
Mathanmi struck in the opener in the 43rd minute, scored his second goal in the 53rd minute and rounded off his hat-trick in the 63rd minute to give his side a rousing start to their campaign.
In the women's competition, Bishnupur got off to a flying start with an 8-0 demolition of Chandel as Kakching strolled past Kangpokpi 5-0 and Imphal West beat Churachandpur 3-1 at SAI Ground, Takyel.
