THAU, YWC victorious in Plate tourney

Imphal, January 24 2023:
THAU (Thangmeiband) thumped KIYC (Kshetrigao) by 94 runs while YWC (Patsoi) recorded a three-wicket win over SSU (Singjamei) in Tuesday's fixtures of the MNCA Plate Tournament.
In a Group A match at Oriental College, THAU set up a competition target of 212/7 for KIYC in 33 overs before they wrapped up their thumping victory in 23.3 overs.
The Thangmeiband team's innings saw valuable contributions Malesh Kumar Ngangbam (50), Hijam An-ilkumar (43), Diamond (42), Roshinikumar (31) and Sanjeev lrengbam (26) .
THAU then wiped out KI-YC's batting lineup for 117 in 23.3 overs.
Khundrakpam Aden was the star performer in the THAU bowling attack.
He claimed three scalps in his five-over spell while N Surash, Malesh Kumar Nangbam, Khumuk-cham Romesh, Rajkumar Tha-pa and Hijam Anilkumar took one wicket apiece.
Md Tamijur scored 38 as Md Abdulla Khan, Asique Luhan and Abdul Hamid made 12 runs each for KIYC.
Earlier, Anesh Ahmed and Md Abdulla Khan bagged two wickets each for the Kshetrigao side.
With his 50-run knock and a wicket, Malesh Kumar Ngangbam was adjudged the man of the match.
YWC, meanwhile, chased down a 210-run target for their three-wicket victory against SSU as Shamurailat-pam Deepankar Sharma's unbeaten 72 went in vain.
SSU garnered 209 for 5 after opting to bat first in their Group B encounter at Lu-wangpokpa Cricket Ground.
Deepankar Sharma (72 not out), Thangjam Somorjit (310, Ma Akip Hussian (30) and Dingku (25) were key run-getters in the innings.
YWC batted 38.4 overs to achieve the target with contributions from Ashish-kumar Wakongthem (48),Khedabarth Khundrakpam (29), Grison Laitonjam (28), Laikhuram Jagat (21), Thoungamba M (18) and Nickel Loukrakpam (10 not out) .
In the chase, the winning side lost three wickets to Jayananda and one each to Dingku and Sujeet.
Earlier, Laikhuram Jagat shone with the ball taking four wickets and Thoungamba bagged one for YWC.
Laikhuram Jagat earned the man of the match title for his 21 runs and four scalps.
