SHADOW, YPHU ciruise in MNCA boys tournament

SHADOW (Thang-meiband) and YPHU (Lalambung) defeated their opponents with ease in the Sunday's matches of the 1st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament.
Thomsan dished out a stellar all-round performance to steer SHADOW to a massive 116-run win over MPA (Thounaojam) in a one-sided Group A match at PTRC Ground, Patsoi.
Thomsan, who opened the batting for the Thangmeiband side, hit 104 off 86 balls to steer the Thangmeiband side to a competitive total of 229 for 5 in 30 overs.
He could have scored more runs but was retired hurt after his century.
Teammate Sagatpam Lanchenba also impressed at the crease with 56 .
After his brilliant batting display, Thomsan continued to prove his worth in the bowling department by claiming 4 wickets, paving the way for SHADOW'S emphatic victory.
MPA were bundled out for 113 in 25.1 overs as Lucky Elangbam (l3i), Chongtham Yiodish (12) amd Chingtham Albish (10) were the batters who could score in double digits.
Man of the match, Thom san's 4-wicket haul was backed up by 2 wickets by Chinglemba Haobam and 1 each by Pebam Leishemba Mangang, S Telheiba and Devis Khunjamayum.
Earlier, Moramba, Elangbam Sanatomba and Thounaojam Ruman took 1 wicket each for MPA.
YPHU, meanwhile, beat PCC (Mayai Koibi) by 5 wickets in a Group meeting at PCC Ground, Mayaikoibi.
Electing to held, the YPHU boys dismissed PCC for 189 in 26.2 overs.
PCC's innings was led by Max Warokpam Meitei who slammed 87 off 43 balls while teammate Chabungbam Paikhomba contributed 22 .
It was Irungbam Tonton who ripped through the PCC batting order, finishing with a notable haul of 5 wickets as Bisal Ningombam and Gura-mayum Prince Sharma did their bit with 2 wickets each, with Birbal Irom chipping in with one for YPHU.
YPHU then needed 28.4 overs to achieve the target with 5 wickets to spare.
Bisal Ningombam (46), Gaichuingam Gangmei (28), Irom Eshwor (27), Irungbam Tonton (24), Birbal Irom (20) and Suraj Sagolsem (ll) were key contributors in YPHU's convincing triumph.
For PCC, Pravin Kumar took 2 wickets.
Irungbam Tonton, who claimed 5 wickets and scored 24, earned the man-of the-match title.
