Shuttler Priya Konjengbam earns spot in Indian squad for 2025 All England Open

Priya Konjengbam has made history by becoming the first player from Manipur and the first women's doubles player from the Northeast region to be selected for the Indian squad at the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championship 2025.The tournament is set to take place from March 11 to 16 at Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England.

Konjengbam's selection comes on the back of her impressive performance as part of the Indian women's team that clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Thailand in the final of the Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024, held in Shah Alam, Malaysia, from February 13 to 18 .
Although Priya and her doubles partner Shruti Mishra, suffered a defeat against Thailand's Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard, the Indian women's team secured the title thanks to standout performances of PV Sindhu, Anmol Kharb, and the doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, whose wins marked a historic achievement for India. Priya Konjengbam, who hails from Moirang Phairembam Leikai in Manipur, is the daughter of Konjengbam Rameshowr Singh and Konjengbam Ongbi Biteshori Devi.
Her journey to the international stage is a testament to her dedication and the growing prominence of badminton talent from Manipur.
