Thang-Ta Maheikol emerge Khelo India State Thang-Ta champions

Imphal, February 05 2025: Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom were crowned overall team champions of the Khelo India State Level Thang-Ta Championship 2024-25 as the five-day competition, organised by SAI NERC, Takyel, Imphal, drew to a close on Wednesday.

The Thang-Ta Maheikol athletes added 8 gold medals to their tally on the final day to wrap up their impressive champaign with 32 medals, including 21 gold, 10 silver and 1 bronze.

Yaihenba Yumnam, Thingujam Lanchenbi Chanu, Mirinda Leiphrakpam, H Manganleiba Meetei, Longjam Sophiya Chanu, H Lanchenba Mangang, N Mahesh Singh and Huidrom Langlensana Chanu were the top finishers for the Yumnam Huidrom team.

Meitei Nongsha Thang-Ta, Heirok finished runners-up with 8 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals, while Kanglei Thang-Ta Sindamshang, Maklang collected 7 gold, 8 silver and 1 bronze to claim third place.

The closing ceremony was held at New MP Hall, SAI NERC, Takyel, with Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi, commandant CRPF GC Langjing, Laijing L Maring, assistant director (pers & admin) SAI NERC Imphal, Shivam Jadav, assistant director (coaching & infra) SAI NERC Imphal, and Laishram Samritya Singh, assistant director (Khelo India) SAI NERC Imphal, attending as chief guest, president and guests of honour, respectively.
