MU finish second in EZ Inter University Men's & Women's Tennis Tournament

Imphal, October 30 2024: Manipur University faltered at the final hurdle to settle for silver medal in the men's event at the AIU East Zone Inter University Mens & Womens Tennis Tournament 2024, which wrapped up on Wednesday in Bhubaneswar.

The MU men's team suffered a 1-3 defeat to KIIT University in their final match.

Bhicky Sagolsem put MU 1-0 up when he defeated KIIT's Atharva Sharman 6-3 6-3 in the first singles match.

However, Bushan Haobam failed to extend their lead as he lost out to Kabir Hans 3-6 3-6 in the second singles match, leading to a 1-1 tie.

Then the doubles match ultimately decided the outcome, with KIIT's pair of Kabir Hans and Atharva Sharma pulling off a thrilling 6-4, 5-7 (10-5) win over MU's Bushan Haobam and Bhicky Sagolshem.

It was a double delight for KIIT University who also won the women's event after they beat Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University 2-1.Their triumphs in both men's and women's event's helped KIIT University secure first position in the tournament, with Manipur University finishing in second, and Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University rounding out the top three.
