Moirang 1st Divn League : Contrasting wins for ELSA and Moirang United

Imphal, October 26 2019: ELSA, Naransena blanked MPIIYA 6-0 while Moirang United scripted a narrow 1-0 win against Ideal Club, Sunusiphai in today's Group B league matches of the ongoing 1st L Kerani Memorial First Division Football League tournament organised under the supervision of District Football Association Moirang at Moirang Multipurpose Ground.

The first match of the day witnessed Moirang United extend their winning run in the group stage by beating Ideal Club 1-0.The lone goal that earned Moirang United the second win at the tournament was scored by N Ramananda in the 33rd minute of the match after the two sides had a stuttering start.

The second half of the contest saw Moirang United chalk out a series of run to stretch their lead while Ideal Club struggle hard to close the gap.

Their efforts however prove too blunt thereby making the game settle with the narrow margin.

Meanwhile in another match, ELSA which earned their first win beating GMC, Phubala came out stronger today to trounce MPIIYA 6-0 as L Rakesh scored four goals alone after the two teams played out a barren first half.

L Rakesh opened up the floodgate in the 36th minute before scoring thrice (49', 61', 70') latter on while H Hitler doubled their advantage in the 46th minute and Kh Sadananda hit ELSA's fourth goal in the 53rd minuute before Rakesh rounded off the scoring.

Tomorrow's fixture (Group A): FC Kumbi vs XI Star at 7 am; SYC vs City FC at 12.30 pm .
