Imphal, February 26 2023: Imphal East district emerged overall team champions of the State Level Boxing Championships 2023 which wrapped up on Sunday.

Imphal East accumulated 58 points to claim the championship title.

They were the team with the most gold medals, winning 18 over the course of the three-day competition.

In the elite event, Imphal East clinched two gold medals while their sub-junior boxers earned them six gold.

The bulk of Imphal East's yellow metal came courtesy of the master (boys & girls) event where they won 10 gold medals.

Imphal West finished runners-up with 53 points and Thoubal managed 25 points to secure the third place.

Imphal West's Boychard Baite (elite) was adjudged the best male boxer of the championship while Bish nupur's Toijam Bhumabati Chanu (elite) was named the best female boxer.

Imphal West's Yengkgom Pukhrambam (master boys) and Noney's Lumjainliu Kamei (master girls) named best promising boxers.
