HI Sub Jr National Championship Division A : Manipur sink to MP

Imphal, May 21 2015 : Manipur Hockey lost to Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 3-5 in the league match of Pool A in the 5th Hockey India Sub Junior National Championship Division A being played at New Delhi on Wednesday.

According to a report by Hockey India, Manipur employed an attacking hockey but could not match the superior skills of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy players.

Manipur conceded an early goal in the 11th of Md Alishan but gets the equalizer through Mani Huidrom in 22nd min to the relief of Manipur players.

The relief was short lived as Manipur conceded two quick goals in 34th and 38th min of Altamash Mohd and Md Alishan.

Manipur continued to come back from behind as they fought hard to get back the two goal deficit in 50th and 57th min through Mani Huidrom and Ibungo Konjengbam.

The hard work of Manipur forwards were let down by the sloppy defense as the defenders wilted under the sustained pressure in the last quarter and let in two quick goal in 66th and 68th min of Md Alishan and Ameen Khan causing heart ached to the Manipur team and support staff.

Madhya Pradesh defended the two goal lead till the end to register victory in 5-3 .
