PTRC, SCCC record emphatic wins in MNCA Elite Tournament

The ninth edition of the MNCA Elite Tournament 2024-25 on Tuesday saw PTRC and SCCC deliver dominant performances in their respective matches, showcasing stellar all-round cricket.
PTRC asserted their dominance with a comprehensive 121-run victory over ESU, propelled by a sensational batting display followed by a disciplined bowling effort.
Electing to bat first, PTRC posted a formidable total of 271/9 in their 50 overs, anchored by a blistering unbeaten 96 from Ngariyan-bam Johnson.
The middle order chipped in valiantly, with Chingakhem Bidash (43), Salam Richie (33), and Khangembam Santosh (25) providing crucial support.
ESU's bowlers shared the spoils, with Lourembam Dipu, Chongtham Mehul Shreth, and Sanatomba claiming two wickets each, while Thokchom Nishikan -ta and Surjit picked up one apiece.
In response, ESU's chase faltered early as PTRC's bowlers struck relentlessly, bundling them out for 150 in 33.4 overs.
Sanatomba (53) and Sagolshem Ronal (32) offered resistance, but their efforts were in vain.
Tamarland Pheiroijam and Chingakhem Bidash starred with two wickets each, while Raj Kumar Rex, Santosh, Bush Sagolsem, Johnson, and Ngariyanbam Jameson contributed with one dismissal each, sealing a clinical win for PTRC.
In the other match, SCCC cruised to a 69-run triumph over CHAMP, triggered by a balanced team performance.
Batting first, SCCC compiled a competitive 246/9, with Ulenyai Khwairakpam (45) and Bikash Singh (45) leading the charge.
Khwairakpam Rinju (35), Basant (35), and Laishram Ronson (31) added vital contributions, while Rex Waikhom remained unbeaten on 5 .
CHAMP's Chingakhem Ranjan and Mohd Ahsanul Kabir starred with three wickets each, supported by Md Sultan Karim's two scalps.
CHAMP's chase never gained momentum as SC-CC's bowlers dismantled their lineup for 177 in 34.4 overs.
Khaidem Joyraj Meitei wreaked havoc with a four-wicket haul, while Moirangthem Thomas and Bikash claimed two wickets each.
Rakeshwor Republic Hidangmayum and Lishan Meitei Khaidem chipped in with one dismissal apiece.
Yumnam Karnajit (45), Nawaz (38), and Sunder Yumnam (29*) fought valiantly, but their efforts fell short against SCCC's relentless attack.
