National Thang-Ta coaches' training commences

The National Thang-Ta Coaches' Training & Time Scoring Result (TSR) was inaugurated on Tuesday at Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom, Imphal West.
The opening event was attended by Yumnam Babu Mangang, Thangsuhanba, Sana Konung, Huidrom Premkumar Singh, president World Thang-Ta Federation, K Sanathoiba Sharma, Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee & principal cum director Huyel Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Irillbung and Thounaojam Priyokumar Singh, former secretary Thang-Ta Federation of India as chief guest, president and guests of honour, respectively.
The training programme is being organised by the Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur under the Thang-Ta Federation of India.
"These days many better efforts are being made by the Khelo India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India as a result of which today the competition of this indigenous game of Thang-Ta has been included in the Khelo India Youth Games 2021 which is scheduled to be held at Haryana in the month of February 2022," a press release from the organiser said.
"As per the directives of the Khelo India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India to popularize the game of Thang-Ta at international level, a Digital Thang-Ta App is being developed successfully along with the Web Application.
This training programme is specially organised with the aim to enhance the Thang-Ta skills of Thang-Ta coaches of different states of India and to familiarize and successfully operate the Time Scoring Result (TSR) App in the forthcoming events of the Thang-Ta at state, national and international levels, it added.
Altogether 82 Thang-Ta coaches from Delhi (5 participants), Assam (11), West Bengal (4), Nagaland (1), Madhya Pradesh (16), Mizoram (3), Himachal Pradesh (2), Jharkhand (4), Jammu & Kashmir (1), Tamil Nadu (3), Uttar Pradesh (3), Tripura (3), Manipur (30), Andhara Pradesh (2), Maharastra (1), Haryana (2), Punjab (2), Chandigarh (2), Bihar (1) and Chhattisgarh (1) are taking part in the training.
