Imphal, September 08 2022:
Kangchup Road Young Physical & Sports Association (KRYHPSA) notched up a 2-1 win over Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) as Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) eked out a 1-0 success against ICSA Irengbam in Thursday's fixtures of the 13th AMFA Senior Women's Football League 2022 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
KRYHPSA started the day with a dominant first-half showing against the police team.
They swung into action from the word go and broke down MPSC's defence in the 16th minute for their opener.
In a goalmouth tussle, Laishram Bibicha Devi was on hand to exploit a space to drill home their first goal.
After their breakthrough, KRYHPSA continued their raids at the other end and soon stamped their authority in a matter of seven minutes.
This time it was Hemam Linthoi Devi whose calm finish in the 23rd minute ensured KRYHPSA went into the second period taking a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The side, however, went into a lull after the break as MPSC showed urgency and turned up the intensity and halved the deficit in the 50th minute with Ngangom Bala Devi on target.
But that was as far as they could go as KRYHPSA stood their ground to settle the issue.
In a battle of equals, ESU rose to the contest courtesy of their first-goal against ICSA.
ESU almost toiled in vain for the entire first half until Kangabam Anita Devi broke the opposition's resistance in the 39th minute and her goal eventually proved to be the match winner.
