Imphal, December 07 2017:
The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has remained in a tight spot as problems seem to be far from over with none of the teams turning up for the match again for the 12th Manipur League today at Mapal Kangjeibung today .
The Young Physique Union (YPhU), Lalambung and the Nambul Mapal Athletic and Cultural Organisation (NACO), Nambul Mapal were scheduled to play the 52nd match at 1pm today in the league tournament featuring 12 teams and which is sponsored by the Khumuk-cham Ingocha Singh Memorial Trust .
However, both the teams failed to show up .
Under the support of the AMFA, the tournament began on September 6 at Khuman Lampak Artificial Turf Ground with the succeeding matches being played at Mapal Kangjeibung .
So far seven teams have failed to turn up between the 48th to 52nd matches of the tournament, including NACO, and Dimapur Road Athletic Organisation (DM Rao), Awang Sekmai which were scheduled to play the 48th match; Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam and North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband for the 49th match; FC Zalen, Sadar Hills and Muivalai Athletic, Sadar Hills for the 50th match; and today’s teams .
For allegedly taking extra-constitutional steps against the apex association, the AMFA had suspended Sagolband United from the tournament.
The association had issued a memorandum on November 19 in this regard .
Further, the Sagolband United had challenged the AMFA’s notice in the High Court of Manipur on November 30 through a complaint lodged by the secretary of the club, and the Court subsequently passed an order against the memorandum .
The AMFA issued another memorandum signed by its assistant general secretary on December 6 mentioning that it respected the order of the High Court.
Following this intervention, Sagolband United had been re-inducted into the remaining fixture of the State League .
However, confusion prevails as the fixture announced by the AMFA on November 29 had mentioned YPhU was to play against NACO in the 52nd match while in the fixture announced on December 7, this match was scheduled between TRAU and SSU.
