Army organises six-a-side football tourney

Imphal, October 07 2024: Indian Army in coordination with Ngariyan Sporting Club, Andro organised the 9th 6-A-Side Open Football Tournament at Andro.

In a release, PRO Defence informed that 16 teams competed over a month for the coveted trophy.

The final match held on Monday saw FC Yairipok Top Chingtha edging out FC Poiroukhongjin 2-1 in a tense penalty shootout witnessed by over 1000 villagers from Andro and adjoining villages.

As chief guest of the final match and closing ceremony Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar handed over rolling trophies to the winners and runners-up.

Man of the match, highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper were also rewarded, it added.
