Silky Thangjam lifts combined 335 kg on the way to 84 kg category gold
Silky Thangjam of TS Paul Manipur Women's College bagged the women's 84 kg category with a 335 kg finish in the Manipur University Inter College Men and Women's Powerlifting Championship organised by Department of Sports, MU.
Silky Thangjam recorded 135 kg in squat, 75 kg in bench press (BP) and 125 kg in deadlift (DL) to gather 335 kg in the competition.
K Velena of Imphal College (100 kg in squad, 57.5 kg in BP, 110 kg in DL) and N Gunileima of Thoubal College (65 kg in squat, 37.5 kg in BP and 90 kg DL) sealed the women's 49 kg and 52 kg category titles as Reety Meikam of KPC (100 kg in squat, 60 kg in BP and 110 kg in DL) and Sarjubala Sagolshem of Mangolnganbi College (135 kg in squat, 75 kg in BP, 140 kg in DL) sealed the 63 kg and 69 kg category gold medals.
In the 57 kg category competition, Nganganbi Thokchom of KMC clinched the gold with a 265 kg finish (105 kg in squat, 60 kg in BP and 100 kg in DL) while Seram Sneha of TSPMWC took the silver (30 kg in squat, 25 kg BP and 55 kg in DL).
In the men's 59 kg competition, Keisham Albert of NGC collected a staggering total of 475 kg - 165 off squat, 100 of BP and 210 off DL to earn the gold as Irikhomba of MBC (110 kg in squat, 60 kg in BP and 130 kg in DL) win the silver and Leitanthem James of Pravabati College (60 kg in squat, 50 kg BP and 130 kg in DL) won bronze.
Venus Singh of MIT sealed the 66 kg category gold with a 390 kg finish (140 in squat, 70 kg in BP and 180 kg in DL) as Y Robinson of MU (360 kg) and Kh Rikash of Manipur College (355 kg) finished second and third.
In the 74 kg category competition, Kangabam Chinglenkhomba of Regional College picked the gold medal with an impressive 470 kg finish (150 in squat, 110 in BP and 210 in DL) sa T Prince Sharma of Standard College (390 kg) and N Monish of MIT (358 kg) settled for the silver and the bronze medals.
S Harimohon of JCRE claimed the 83 kg category gold with a 480 kg finish (180 in squat, 100 in BP and 200 in DL) as K Sudhirchandra of Manipur College (390 kg) and S Bikash of Thoubal College (380 kg) finished second and third.
Shivananda Wangkheimayum of Pravabati College (210 kg in squat, 140 kg BP and 225 kg in DL) and L Prashant of Regional College (200 kg in squat, 105 kg in BP and 175 kg in DL) won gold medals in the 93 kg and 105 kg category competitions.
