Imphal, August 05 2024: The Heisnam Basantakumar Memorial AITA-MATA-IDTA National Ranking Men's Tennis Championship commenced at Imphal District Tennis Association (IDTA) Court Complex, Lamphel on Monday with three state players entering the quarter finals.

Haobam Bushan was awarded the match against Hitesh Yalamanchili of Telangana after the latter retired hurt 0-6 in the first set.

On the other hand, Heisnam Shanker thrashed Achintya Anurag Verma of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-0 and Sagolshem Bhicky trounced Ashok Dattu Madduri of Andhra Pradesh 6-0, 6-0 .

Meanwhile, Nishith Rahane of Maharashtra defeated Toijam Brojen in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.The championship organised by Manipur Tennis Association (MATA) under the aegis of All India Tennis Association (AITA) with the top prize of Rs 1 lakh will be held till August 9 .
