Leikoiching village win "All Tangkhul Villages Men's Open Volleyball Tournament" title

Ukhrul, November 03 2019: Leikoiching team beat Muirei village to win the 'All Tangkhul Villages Men's Open Volleyball Tournament' held at Hungpung, Ukhrul district on November 2 .

The three-day tournament which began on October 31 was organized by Thawaijao Young Students' Organization (THYSO) and sponsored by Elya Construction with the theme "Empowering Youth Through Sports" .

Chief guest of the valedictory function, Shaliwo Shanngam, DFO, Ukhrul lauded THYSO for organizing the tournament and said that such an event will bring unity and harmony among villages.

Altogether, 13 teams from different villages took part in the tournament.

Leiyaram team were adjudged the best team of thetournament.

Best player title of the tournament went to KH Shangreithan while Phanglei (Ramrei) and Ningyangung (Muirei) were named respectively as the best spiker to and best blocker.

Leikoiching team captain, Dearson expressed that it was a great initiative and platform to encourage youth to take up sports for maintaining good health and mind.

Muirei Captain also lauded THYSO for providing an opportunity to feature in the said tournament and maintained that the tournament will lead youngsters to a more righteous path.

Sports has helped him personally to be more focused and disciplined.

The inaugural function of the tournament saw Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul as the chief guest.
