State boxers dominate in the ring, crowned team champions

Manipur were crowned overall champions of the boxing competition at the North East Regional Sports 2022 here on Monday.
The state women boxers stamped their authority in the ring, winning gold medals across nine weight categories as the men pugilists grabbed five gold medals.
Thiyam Apsana, Kakyenpaibam Bandana, Naorem Babyrojisana, H Ambeshori, Huidrom Griviya Devi, Ksh Tilotama, Ksh Silky Devi, Tingneilhing Chongloi and KM Renu shone in their respective gold-medal bouts to underline Manipur's dominance in the women's competition.
Apsana triumphed over Arunachal's Tagru Aper in the 46kg final, Bandana outpunched Gora Yakung of Arunachal to win the 48kg category, Babyrojisana clinched the 65kg category gold after beating Ruthi L of Mizoram in the 54kg bout, Ambeshori prevailed over Nagaland's H Jamuna Devi in the 57kg gold-medal bout, Griviya Devi defeated Mizoram's Naom Chinhsannuami in the 60kg final duel, Ksh Tilotama won the 63kg summit fight against Nagaland's Sanju, Ksh Silky beat Mizoram's MC Vankimawii in their 66kg final match, Tingneilhing Chongloi got the better of Mizoram's FC Lalthlamuanpuii in the 70kg final, and KM Renu outdid Mizoram's Monu in the 75kg final.
The men's event saw Md Mujahid (46kg), S Yaiphaba (50kg), Awungshi Ngathing-pam (52kg), Pukhrambam Jackson (54kg) and Laishram Edison (57kg) claim gold medals for Manipur.
Arunachal Pradesh finished runners-up in the men's section while Nagaland secured the second place of the women's group.
