Heirok, CT schools crowned champions of Inter School Subroto Football Tournament

Imphal, June 30 2022: Heirok Hr Sec School (Thoubal) emerged champions of the U-14 boys' competition while CT Hr Sec School (Imphal West) won the U-17 boys' title of the State Inter School Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament 2022 on Thursday.

The Heirok Hr See School boys endured a tight tussle to eke out a 1-0 win over Utlou High School (Bishnupur) in the U-14 boys' final match played at Turf Ground, Lam long Thongkhong.

The early stages saw a seesaw contest riddled with some squandered chances and the Heirok school team finally broke the opposition's resistance in the 31st minute.

It was L Belot Singh who turned out to be the hero for the Thoubal side as his goal eventually proved to be the match winner.

In the U-17 boys' summit clash, CT Hr Sec School pulled off a 2-0 success against Seikhor Govt High School (Ukhrul).

CT school toiled for 42 minutes until Boynao broke their opponents' defence to send the ball into the back of the net.

The CT school boys made further inroads in a two-minute span when Monish doubled their advantage in the 44th minute.

The Ukhrul side tried hard to capitalise on the remaining minutes but their spirited efforts proved futile as the CT school squad put up a resolute defence and eventually got their hands on the winners' trophy.

A total of 16 school teams from Thoubal, Imphal West, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, Chandel, Cnu-rachandpur, Jiribam, Ukhrul, Senapati, Noney, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Kakching and Pherzawl districts took part in the U-17 boys' competition.

The State Inter School Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament 2022 for U-14 & U-17 boys was organised by Youth Affairs & Sports, Manipur.
