Jiri Volleyball : Jiri District Police emerge champions

Jiribam, April 28 2018:
Jiri District Police beat Bakhe VC, Sanakeithel by 3-1 sets to become the champions of the 8th Y Kesho Singh Memorial Senior Volleyball Tournament, 2018 organised by All Jiribam Sports Association at Jiribam Government Higher Secondary School playground today.
Jiri District Police team lost the second set before surging ahead in the remaining sets to notch up a 25-22, 20-25, 25-15, 25-18 win and clinch the title of the tournament.
The final match and the closing ceremony of the tournament was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh as chief guest; M Brajakanta Singh, president of All Jiribam Sports Association as functional president and SP Jiribam, M Mubi Singh, MPS; Lt Col Jyoti Lama, Officer-In-charge of 37 AR; Sinam Pritam Singh, Proprietor, Eastern Motor; Joybi Devi and Yumnam (O) Ibempisak Devi (spouse of Dy CM) as guests of honour.
Jiri District Police Team were felicitated with Rs 15,000 along with the winners' trophy (running) while! the runners up team, Bakhe VC were awarded Rs 10,000 and runners up trophy (running) .
Other team awards and individual prizes were also distributed on the occasion.
Best defender, best blocker and best spiker prizes went respectively to L Parsuram, Dhanmoni Das and Ariful Haque of Jiri District Police team while S Indrajit and Robinson Gangmei of Bakhe VC bagged the best setter and the best players prizes.
Two promising teams, LHYC, Lalpani and NYC, Namdailung were also encouraged with cash prizes.
The tournament is sponsored by Dy CM Yumnam Joykumar Singh in memory of his (L) father Y Kesho Singh.
