Mantak FC register huge win, AFA hold DMFA in TKWA Trophy

Imphal, April 25 2018: Mantak FC edged past Football Forever 5-3 in a Group F league match of the ongoing TKWA trophy organised by Tentha Khongbal Welfare Association at Tentha ground today while AFA, Ningombam and DM FC Moreh played out a 1-1 draw.

In the 19th match of the tournament, Arnold hit a brace to give Mantak FC a 5-3 victory in a high scoring match.

Joy of Football Forever struck the opener early in the fourth minute but the lead was shortlived as Ngamneiril Kom of the Mantak side levelled the score with an equaliser in the 5th minute.

Arnold then netted two goals back to back in the 9th and the 13th minute and gave his team a 3-1 lead in the first half.

After the break, Football Forever who were down by two goals came up with some stringent raids and it was in the 35th minute that Rajesh struck a superb goal and reduce the gap making it 2-3.Stung by the goal Mantak FC also rallied back in the process nervy Subash of Football forever had to concede an own goal after a series of tantalising shots increasing the gap again to 2-4.Football Forever did not give up easily and field more men into opponents half looking for openings.

Soon, they capitalise the mid-field and Joy who struck the opener rose to the occasion and fired in the last goal for his side in the 44th minute.

With the gap closing in, Mantak FC who were out of contention surged ahead in the latter part with more understanding among the players and it was Chungneilen Kom who struck the finisher in the 50th minute.

In the Group G league match of the day, DM FC, Moreh were able to hold AFA, Ningombam to a 1-1 draw.

Monish of AFA found the opener in the 10th minute but was equalised by Mahir Khan in the 25th minute.

The second half saw both teams trying hard to add the winner but backline of both sides stuck well and determined to keep all threats at bay going for a 1-1 stalemate.
