Tusam YC crowned champions of Children Sports

Tusam Youth Club emerged champions of the football competition of 6th Chilchep Sports at Saikul Block ground on Friday.
Saikul AC MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing graced the closing ceremony of the month-long tournament.
The Chilchep Sports is an annual inter youth club sports meet of the Saikul Block organised by KSO Saikul under the aegis of All Saikul Football Association/District Football Association Saikul to promote unity, peace and harmony in the area, especially among the youths of Saikul, Apart from chief guest and local MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing, other dignitaries of the closing event were SDO/BDO Saikul Block Bhungba Maibam, SDO Lhungtin & Island Block Syed Amjad Ali Khan and AMFA president M Ratankumar as guests of honour and Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai president Seimang Lupho as functional president.
Pastor Haopu Khongsai, ST-CCC, attended as the minister of the event, besides special guests, village chiefs and CSOs leaders.
The local MLA while lauding the achievement of Saikul in the field of sports, especially football, said that Saikul has produced and represented the state in various national and international tournaments.
However, she lamented that despite the immense contribution of Saikul towards sports even at the international level, it is very unfortunate that the very playground where many national and international sportspersons had started their career is still in a very deplorable condition.
Kimneo Haokip Hangshing then assured to render all possible help to renovate the playground.
After inspection of the finalist players by the local MLA accompanied by other dignitaries, the final match between Jangnoi Youth Club and Tusam Youth Club kicked off.
As many as 56 youth clubs including men s and women's volleyball teams participated in the sports meet held at three avenues at Saikul, Pangjang and Lhungtin playgrounds.
As many as 364 goals were scored in 112 matches while 205 yellow cards and three red cards were shown during the football tournament, said Boilen Chongloi, in-charge of the sports meet.
In the final match, Tusam Youth Club had an easy 4-0 win over Jangnoi Youth Club to receive Rs 1 lakh in prize money.
Thangtinlen (36th), Salem (75th), Paokhohao (81st) and Thangminlen (86th) scored for the champions.
Runners-up Jangnoi Youth Club were given 50,000.The women's volleyball team of Jangnoi Youth Club defeated Nungka Youth Club women's volleyball team in the final while KS Mollen Youth Club beat Songjang Youth Club to win the men s volleyball title.
Among the individual prizes winners, Lunminthang Chongloi of Saijang Youth bagged the top scorer award and Thangminlen Haokip of Tusam Youth Club bagged hero of the match award while Tonglenlal Chongloi of Jangnoi Youth Club was adjudged as emerging player of the tournament, Lalboi Haokip of Tusam Youth Club as best keeper and Paolenlal Khongsai of Tusam Youth Club as hero of the tournament.
