Jiri 2nd div football tournament begins

Jiri, September 18 2015 : S Ningthou Memorial 2nd division football tournament began today at Jiribam Govt Hr Sec school playground, Jiribam under the aegis of All Jiribam Sports Association.

In the opening match today, Zomi Club, Jiribam defeated LHYC, Lalpani by a margin of 3 goals to 2 .

The goals for Zomi side were scored by P Mung, Joyson and Khela in the 16th, 29th and 56th minute respectively while Nehnia scored the two goals for LHYC in the 71st and 73rd minute.

Retreat Club and Lhangnom YC will play tomorrow at 3 pm.

The opening ceremony of the tournament today was attended by S Maniton, retd principal of Jiribam Govt Hr Sec School and M Brajakanta Singh, president of AJSA as the chief guest and president respectively.

A total of eight teams will vie for the title.
