AR Polo team wins inaugural Bishnupur Polo tournament

Imphal, March 18 2021: The Assam Rifles Polo Team under the aegis of IGAR (South) won the 1st Bishnupur District Polo Tournament held at Kumbi in Bishnupur district from March 13 to 16 .

The Polo tournament was organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association in collaboration with Pony Care Centre, Kumbi.

The tournament saw participation by five Manipuri Polo teams.

In the final organised on 16 March, the Assam Rifles Polo Team prevailed over the CRPF Polo Team by a score of 7-3 .

Riyakat Ali scored three goals and his compatriots Kh Chandra Kumar and L Joy Kumar added two goals each for the winners in an exciting final match. The Assam Rifles Polo team was raised in the year 2017 with an aim to promote the local Manipuri polo ponies and the local version of the game.
