PNTM, TKS, STS, LKK in fray for final spots

Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), Tangkhul Katamna Saklong (TKS), Sirti Thiimjitam Sourkhe (STS) and Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (LKK) triumphed in their quarterfinal matches to complete the semifinal lineup of the 1st ANSAM Martyrs' Trophy Football Tournament 2022.PNTM started the quarterfinal fixtures with a narrow 2-1 win over Anal Leiruwl Tang-pi (ALT) at Sports Complex, Chandel, on Friday.
The Poumai squad gained the upper hand when Chinakho was on target in the 34th minute but ALT restored parity in the 65th minute via a penalty conversion by Sr Kagaly.
However, ALT paid dearly for an own goal (70th) by Riverson as they never recovered.
TKS, meanwhile, hardly broke a sweat on their way to the semifinals as Khanngam Horam grabbed a hat-trick in his side's 4-0 drubbing of Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi.
Khanngam kick-started the rout with a 23rd-minute opener before Wungngayam M doubled the lead seconds before the break.
Then it was all up to Khanngam who netted his second goal in the 40th minute and then rounded off his hat-trick in the 62nd minute to steer TKS to an emphatic 4-0 victory en route to the last four.
A penalty shootout decided the third quarterfinal match where STS snatched a 5-4 win against Chothe Athourul Ngei Abom (CANA) after both teams tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
CANA took an early lead when Y Sonam converted in the 5 th minute but W Wisefine's equaliser in the 56th minute forced the penalty shootout where STS held their nerves to emerge the victors with successful kicks by Sh Marconi, Ts Damme, Sh Sepberngam, W Strongngam and Th Milan.
LKK booked the last remaining spot with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Thiimziih Teen Bujuur Ruwrkheh (TTBR).
Renghon put LKK ahead in the 10th minute but Bedeenpaar drew level for TTBR in the 34th minute before Bungpem restored LKK's lead in the 42nd minute.
Then Renghon claimed his second goal in the 51st minute to make it 3-1 as Anand found the fourth in the space of three minutes to make sure LKK ran out dominant 4-1 winners.
Both semifinal matches will take place on Saturday (June 18) with PNTM taking on TKS at 11.30 am and LKK playing STS at 1.30 pm .
