MPSC emerge champions of 1st State Level Men's Volleyball

Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) claimed the title of the 1st State Level Men's Volleyball 2019 organised by Young Men Development Organisation, Heirangoithong under the aegis of All Manipur Volleyball Association at its volleyball court featuring 8 teams clubbed into two groups.
MPSC hold off IGO Oinam by 3-1 sets in the final staged today to lay their hands on the title trophy.
MPSC lost the first set but managed a strong comeback in the latter set to finish the game 20-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-17 .
Earlier in the semi-final, MPSC carved out a 3-2 (25-16, 25-19, 21-25 19-25, 15-11) sets victory against hosts YMDO to book the final berth.
It was indeed a keenly contested clash as MPSC which started on the bright note conceded the third and the fourth set before making a huge return in the deciding set.
In the other semi-final match, IGO Oinam pulled off a hard fought 3-2 sets victory against NYVA, Naorem.
It was a roller coaster ride as IGO conceded the second and the third set before coming up on top in the deciding set to wrap up the game 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-9 .
Winners MPSC were feted with Rs 30,000 while runners up IGO were awarded with Rs 20,000 .
Ch Romeo of MPSC; L Sunil of IGO, H Kumar of MPSC, Robinson Gangmei of MPSC and W Santa of MPSC were adjudged respectively as best setter, best spiker, best defender, best player and best disciplined player.
They were also encouraged with cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.
The closing cum prize distribution ceremony of the tournament was attended by L Baleshor Singh, secretary, All Manipur Volleyball Association and Dr Yumnam Tomba Singh, Professor, JNIMS as dignitaries.
