Imphal, February 17 2025:
The Apunba Manipur Huyen Lanlong Lup (AMHLL) is set to launch a drive to detect schools denying Thang-Ta subject and to aid schools struggling with limited Thang-Ta resources.
AMHLL in a press release, said that many Thang-Ta teachers, elders with deep knowledge of Thang-Ta have been relentlessly working towards the revival of the age-old indigenous martial artform "Thang-Ta" over the years.
Courtesy of these dedicated activists and teachers, one can study Thang-Ta from schools to universities (Manipur University of Culture) and AMHLL has also been actively engaged in helping the cause right from the beginning, it said.
Thang-Ta involves a great deal of discipline, self control and positively impacts greater aspects of life, it said while justifying the inclusion of Thang-Ta as an educational subject.
The lup (AMHLL) has, however learnt that some schools have started teasing and intimidating students who sought to study Thang-Ta and AMHLL take the matter very seriously and consider it as a deliberate attempt to eliminate the educational and cultural significance of Thang-Ta.
In view of these complaints, AMHLL volunteers will launch a drive to deeply study the issue and reach out with the institutions concerned.
Furthermore, AMHLL will provide logistic and other possible support to schools offering Thang-Ta subject but are lacking in resources, it continued.
