Imphal, February 16 2025:
CYCLONE delivered a masterclass in clinical cricket, overpowering KCC by a resounding 138 runs in their 9th MNCA Elite Tournament 2024-25 fixture on Sunday.
Electing to bat first at the toss, CYCLONE's formidable total of 234/7 proved insurmountable for their opponents, who crumbled to 96 all out in a one-sided affair.
The foundation of CYCLONE'S innings was laid by a commanding 90-run knock from Muhammed Al Bashid, who anchored the innings with composure, while Nongthombam Denin bolstered the scorecard with a well-crafted 63 .
Contributions from Abdul Kasim (25) and late cameos by Suraj (8*) and Robinson Sougaijam (2*) ensured CYCLONE finished strongly.
KCC's bowlers toiled hard, with Wahengbam Somorjit claiming 3 wickets, while Janab (2), Tayenjam Tomba (1), and Nameirakpam Arbin (1) shared the remaining wickets.
In reply, KCC's chase never gained momentum as CYCLONE'S attack struck at regular intervals.
Suraj Nong emerged as the chief destroyer, snaring 4 wickets with his incisive seam bowling, while Kishan Laishram (3) and Denin (2) compounded the pressure.
Reolin Oinam (1) chipped in to wrap up the innings in just 20.3 overs.
Ningombam Tony's gritty 37 stood out as the lone resistance in an otherwise faltering KCC batting card.
