Imphal, September 14 2022:
SK Bunghong's double helped 10 man Liwachangning Youth Cultural Club (LYCC) post a 3-1 win over Langching Youth Games Social Educational and Development Association (LYGSEDA) in a Group B match
of 2nd AMFA Cup.
LYCC had the most of the possession early on but suffered a jolt when they were reduced to 10-man when defender Sagapam Suresh Singh was sent off in the 11th minute.
It did not however have much impact on the proceedings as LYCC went ahead after 14 minutes through Bunghong Lamkang goal before Dilbung Rengong Lamka slotted home the team's second in the 28th minute here at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
LYGSEDA managed to pull back a goal during the added time of the opening half through Thangminlun Khongsai but it failed to change the complexion of the game with Bunghong finding the target yet again just one minutes into the second half to hand LYCC a two goal cushion.
LYCC soaked up all later charges from LYGSEDA to go home 3-1 .
Elsewhere, All Moirang Football Association (AMOFA) and J Songtun Youth Club (JSYC) played out an entertaining 4-4 draw in the Group A opener staged later in the day.
Interestinly a player on each side of the teams registered trebles to ensure the match ended in a 4-4 stalemate.
The opening half saw an intense battle from both the ends and eventually ended in a 3-3 draw as goals from Samson's double (14', 16') and one goal from Kumam Engo Singh for AMOFA were cancelled out by Mangginhao Kipgen (26', 30') and Akash Rai (38') .
After the break, Samson completed his treble in the 51st minute to give AMOFA the headway but Mangginhao also completed his third in the 75th minute to help JSYC salvage a 4-4 draw.
