Manipur end KIYG campaign on high, claim fourth place

Manipur ended their Khelo India Youth Games campaign on a high note with two boxing gold and one silver medals at Panchkula, Haryana, on Monday.
Bishwamitra Chongtham and Laishangbam Rabi-chandra Singh conquered the boxing ring as the state duo punched their way to gold medals, and Huidrom Griviya Devi did her bit with a silver medal.
Bishwamitra Chongtham won his yellow metal in the men's 52kg category.
He outmatched Bilal of Telangana in their final bout.
Himamshu of Delhi and Kavi of Chandigarh both shared the third place for bronze medals.
Laishangbam Rabichandra made his mark in the men's 60kg category where he defeated Harsh of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu in their gold-medal contest.
Madhya Pradesh's Vikas and Uttar Pradesh's Siddarth took bronze medals.
On the other hand, Huidrom Griviya settled for silver medal in the women's 57kg Category after losing out in the final to Preeti of Haryana.
Rajathan's Anju and Chandigarh's Renu bagged bronze medals.
The state contingent did a commendable job by securing the fourth place in the fourth edition of Khelo India Youth Games by winning 19 gold, four silver and five bronze, 28 in all, across seven sports disciplines.
They claimed nine gold and two silver medals in thang-ta, four gold and three bronze in judo, two gold and one silver in boxing, two gold and one silver in cycling, one gold and one bronze in weightlifting, one gold in athletics, and one bronze in wrestling.
Hosts Haryana were crowned team champions of the Youth Games courtesy of their 52 gold, 39 silver and 46 bronze medals, while Maharashtra finished runners-up with 45 gold, 40 silver and 40 bronze medals.
Karnataka secured the third place with 22 gold, 17 silver and bronze medals.
