Ukhrul, Churachandpur lock horns in final of Hill District Sports Meet

Imphal, December 10 2021: The stage is all set for new champions as Ukhrul and Churachandpur will face off in the final of the 6th Hill District Sports Meet 2021, following their semifinal victories on Friday.

The first semifinal saw Khangampam Zimik score twice to help Ukhrul edge out Chandel 4-3 as Bedeenpar's treble went in vain.

Khangampam gave Ukhrul a rousing start with a 4th-min-ute opener but Bedeenpar drew level for Chandel in the 26th minute and he went on to overturn the scoreline after finding the back of the net in the 36th minute, leading into the second half.

Ukhrul, however, roared into action after the interval as Paniel Shatsang found the leveller in the 47th minute before they turned things around with a 51st-minute goal from Ningon Chipang.

Chandel clawed their way back into contention courtesy of Bedeenpar's third goal in the 61st minute.

Nine minutes later, Khangampam scored his second and team's fourth goal that ultimately proved to be decisive.

Churachandpur, meanwhile, entered the final with relative ease, beating Tamenglong 5-1 .

Seiminthang and LM Neihsial netted a double apiece in their side's emphatic semifinal triumph.

It was Seiminthang who opened the scoring in the 17th minute as Jo made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute before LM Neihsial struck twice in the 23rd minute 59 minutes to further stretch their lead to 4-0 .

Seiminthang's second and team's fifth goal came in the 63rd minute to put the game beyond doubt.

Sinthailung scored for Tamenglong in the 72nd minute but it was too little, too late.
