Haobam Bushan to face Suresh in HB national ranking tennis final

Imphal, August 08 2024: Haobam Bushan and Suresh Keerthivassan will face off in the men's singles final of the Heisnam Basantakumar National Ranking Men's Tennis Championship, following their semifinal wins on Thursday.

Bushan hardly had to break a sweat to beat Borthakur Abhinansu in their semifinal contest.

The state lad swept past his West Bengal opponent 6-1 in the first set and wrapped the victory with a 6-2 second-set result.

Earlier in the quarterfinal, Bushan defeated fellow state player Heisnam Shanker 7-5 6-7 for his place in the semifinals.

Suresh Keerthivassan (Tamil Nadu), on the other hand, outdid Odisha's Mohanty Pratush 6-3 6-2 in their semifinal match.

Meanwhile, the pairs of Khat Vilaser/Borthakur Abhinansu and Jaya Prakash/Sheikh Ifkhar will vie for the doubles title.

Khat Vilaser/Borthakur Abhinansu got the better of Mohanty/Sahoo 6-2 6-3 in their semifinal encounter, while Jaya Prakash/Sheikh Ifkhar bounced back from a set down to overcome Bushan/Bhicky 3-6 6-4 10-3 in the other semifinal match.
