Bhowmick visits Manipur for BCCI's area development programme

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ground and Pitches Committee member Ashish K Bhowmick is in Imphal in connection with the board's area development programme for cricket in the state.
On Saturday, Bhowmick visited Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam; Khuman Lampak Cricket Ground; NC College Ground Khundrakpam; Orinetal College and Model Higher Secondary School Ground, Sagolband Khanam and WSC Ground Langjing, said a press release issued by Manipur Cricket Association (MCA) Honourary Secretary S.Priyananda Singh.
During the visit, Priyananda said that MCA demanded hand roller, mechanical roller, mowing machines and pitch cover to improve turf pitches and standard playing grounds.
MCA has also proposed and demanded seven turf pitches at the centre and two turf practice pitches to be prepared at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium so that BCCI matches can be held in Manipur.
Bhowmick's visit is significant as Manipur has been trying to get recognition as a cricket playing State.
BCCI has been making efforts for preparation of more turf wickets, conducting programmes, appointment of coaches and support staff, supply of equipment and cricket gears.
