National School Games Priyanka wins gold in taekwondo; Manipur snatch four medals in karate, two bronze in boxing

Imphal, December 07 2017:
Priyanka Leitanthem won gold in the 63kg category while S Roshni (55kg) and L Banita (59kg) got bronze in taekwondo in the 63rd National School Games which is currently underway in New Delhi .
Manipur has now won 1 gold and 2 bronze medals in the taekwondo competition organised by the School Games Federation of India in the under-17 category .
Four gold in karate
On the last day yesterday, in the boys’ 62kg kumite category, Laishram Yaiphaba from the state won a silver medal in karate while Shougrakpam Gunachand Meitei won a bronze medal in the 66kg category .
In the championship that commenced on December 3, M Nitridickson had won a bronze medal in the under 48kg category, while in the 52kg category, Kh Roshni also won a bronze medal .
Altogether Manipur had won one silver and three bronze medals in the karate events at the National School Games .
Seven boxers into final, two medals won
In boxing, seven pugilists from the state are into the final of the National School Games while two players from the state has won two bronze medals .
Girls
In the semifinal of the 48kg category, Kingmilan of Manipur defeated Saraswati Bora from Assam.
She will now face Lakshmi Patil from Maharashtra in the final match .
In the semifinal of the 57kg category, Huiningshum-bam Ashalata defeated Priti Dahia from Haryana.
She will fight against Sania Negi from Delhi for the gold medal .
In the semifinal of the 63kg category, Ningthoujam Menaka defeated Muskan from Haryana.
She will fight against Masai Tejaswani from Andhra Pradesh for the gold medal .
In the semifinal of the 80kg category, Langambam Anupama defeated Chasmini Kamros from Chandigarh.
She will now face Komal from Haryana in the final .
Boys
In the boys’ 46kg event, Md Najimmudin from the state defeated M Samir Kumar from Andhra Pradesh to storm into the final.
He will now face Uttar Pradesh’s Vinay Vait .
In 66kg, Thokchom Danny punched out Pritesh Bishnoi (KBS) in the semifinal and will face Mohit (Haryana) in the final .
In 75 kg, Thokchom defeated Aryan Mishra from Telangana in the semifinal to face Prasad Pardeshi (Maharashtra) in the final .
Bronze winners
In the girls’ 42kg category, Ningthoujam Kalpana faced defeat in the hands of Binoi (Tamil Nadu) to receive the bronze medal .
Huidrom Ambeshwori won the second bronze for the state in the 54kg category after she was defeated by Jogita of Haryana .
Th Amrita Gopal is the team manager, M Shyamchandra the coach and S Sobita the in-charge of the state boxing team.
