State Wushu Assn thanks BJP leaders

Imphal, October 04 2014 : The members of Wushu Association of Manipur have expressed their gratitude to President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Chaoba, General Secretary M Ashinikumar and Secretary (Media) L Basantakumar Sharma for their moral support and pressure given to the Sports Ministry and other authorities concerned regarding sending of wushu player Y Sapana Devi to the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea at the last moment.

It may be mentioned that the Sports Ministry had cancelled the names of three wushu players from Manipur, namely Y Sapana, M Gyandash and Sanatombi for the Incheon Asian Games although they were in the final selection list and had undergone exposure training at Wuhan Sports University, China for one month in preparation of the Games at the expenses of the Sports Ministry.

However, at the last moment when the Indian wushu team left for Incheon, the Ministry cleared the name of Y Sapana under intense pressure from the leaders of State BJP, said a statement issued by General Secretary of Wushu Association of Manipur M Biramani.
