Imphal, July 03 2022:
Various Wushu associations and units have joined hands in seeking timely conduct of trial selection of State teams for the upcoming 22nd Sub-Junior, 21st Junior and 31st Senior National Wushu Championships.
Representatives of Bishnupur District Wushu Association, Imphal West Wushu Association, Universal Wushu Academy-Thoubal, Thoubal District Wushu Association, Imphal East District Wushu Association and Central Wushu Institute-Imphal in a joint statement, expressed that the disruption of trial selections as scheduled by Wushu Association of Manipur for the preparation of State teams from June 29 to July 2, was very unfortunate and a setback to the players.
It may be noted that the 22nd Sub-Junior National Championship is due to be held from July 9 to 15 in Himachal Pradesh.
Noting that Manipur has been known to the world thanks to the grit and the ability of the State players, the joint statement continued that assimilation and participation of persons, who are bereft of Wushu knowledge, in the election of office bearers of the State's apex Wushu governing body will be detrimental to the growth of Wushu movement in the State.
Through the joint statement, the representatives of the Wushu associations and units urged all concerned to look into the matter at the earliest and save the future of the Wushu players.
