T Subol Memorial T-20 Cricket tourney begins, CCC register opening win in super over

Imphal, April 02 2018: The 2nd T Subol Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket tournament 2018 organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association kick-started today at Oriental College and Model Higher Secondary School ground in the presence of Ngasekpam Bimola Devi, Adhyaksha Imphal West Zilla Parishad as chief guest, RK Bidur Singh, National Awardee, Film Critics, Ch Chaoba Singh, Retd Addl Director, Hort & Soil Conservation and Tongbram Dhamen Singh, Member, Bijoy Govinda Gram Sabha as guests of honour and N Indrajit Singh, president MVCA as functional president.

A total of 7 teams clubbed into two groups will compete for the top prize.

The opening Group B league match saw CCC Chajing beat DSU, Kwakeithel by 7 runs in super over courtesy to 91 run tie.

CCC Chajing posted a total of 91 runs in 18 overs but DSU chased the target in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Krishna of CCC started the game on a bright note making a quick 25 runs before he went out in the 17th delivery while his partner gathered another 18 runs in 27 balls and sadly slowed down the pace.

Shamu also contributed 14 runs off 10 balls and helped his team post a target of 92 runs.

DSU's bowlers together played a crucial role in containing the strike rate and it were Jiten and Bishorjit who claimed 3 wickets each in 4 overs.

Somorjit of the same team picked up 2 wickets while Gyaneshor and Pradeep claimed 1 wicket each.

In reply, DSU were able to reach 91 in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets to finish the game in a draw.

Amarjit hit 34 runs off 30 balls to take the lead while Bishorjit added another 13 runs.

Chingtam also made his best effort to hand the victory with his crucial 12 runs but the match was dragged to super over.

Chinglemba of CCC was named man of the match.

CHAMP, Khagempalli will meet NAPSA, Kha-Imphal tomorrow at the same ground.
