KACO emerge champions of 4th Police Cup

Kakching, December 31 2019: Kakching Khunou Athletic and Cultural Organization (KACO) were crowned the champions of 4th Police Cup 7 A side Open Football Tournament-2019 jointly organised by Sugnu Police, Kakching District Police and Sugnu Football Club since December 28 with 20 teams participating in it.

KACO won the title by beating 6-5 Friendship Football Club (FFC), T Lailoiphai on penalties after 2-2 draw during normal time at Sugnu Public Ground yesterday.

Kh Amujao and Th Sushilkumar were on target for KACO before Hemmisei netted twice to make the scoreline read 2-2 till the end of the normal time.

In the shoot-out to decide the winners, Kh Amujao, Th Sushilkumar, Kh Amuthoi and Kh Sushil find the back of the net to claim the title while only Khaiminthang, Jamkhongam and Hemmisei were able to score for Friendship Football Club.

Autonomous District Council Chandel's Member Ngamkholal Baite attended the closing ceremony as chief guest in the presence of Sugnu Municipal Council's Chairperson Moirangthem Sarat as functional president; Additional SP (Law and Order) Kakching, Lunkhomang Khongsai as special guest; Sugnu Municipal Council's Councillor Abujam Cuba; Lokhijang Village's secretary Joseph Chingkhanmang; Kakching Zilla Parishad's ex Member (Wangoo ZP) Moirangthem Romen Meitei and Lamjing Lup Sugnu's president Kh Ratan as guests of honour.

FFC, T Lailoiphai's Jamkhongam who was named best player of the tournament' KACO's Ksh Chitaranjan who was adjudged best goalkeeper; Top Scorer FFC's Khaiminthang and DSA Kakching Team, who finished best discipline team were feted with cash prize of Rs 500 each during the closing ceremony.

SDPO Sugnu A Devananda who took a pivotal role in organising the tournament maintained that the tournament was organised under the supervision of SP Kakching, Yengkhom Victoria, with an objective of raising health awareness among the youth and divert them from narcotic substances besides developing a cordial and harmonious relationship among the different communities residing in the area.
